keyboard problem

    when i press ' (apostrophe) on my computer it doesn't show up until i press another letter. the same with `. if i press ' then a it comes up as á. in cs whenever i open the console (with `) i have to press a first and have it come up as á, then erase it and type whatever i was going to. if i press anything else the console just closes. very annoying
    does anyone know how to change this. i've been all over the regional and languange and keyboard options

    "console"? does it happen OS-Wide or is it specific to a console?
    What OS? What type of keyboard?
    How long has it been happening?
    And last, and best suggestion for now: Try another keyboard!

    Don't see why it would happen with the apostrophe, but it's SUPPOSED to do that with tilde - àèìòù
    The problem with Steam is that it doesn't like non-US regional keyboard settings(This explanation is from Steam Support, btw). When your press tilde, it waits for a vowel so it can apply the punctuation. If you hit anything else, it just closes the console.
    Steam's solution: Set something other than tilde to open the console..... lazy ****ers. Nothing can be done about this, AFAIK.

    Karoma, the "console" is in Counter-Strike, it doesn't matter what keyboard is being used, and using another one will produce the same results.

    It's ALL about the keyboard settings.
    In Win XP, go Start->Settings->Control Panel->Regional and Language Settings(assuming the "Classic View" is on - don't know/care what the new name for it is)->Languages->Details
    There's your keyboard settings.
