Is it me or is there something wrong with these offers...
    Ebay stereos

    Another offer
The above stereo offers the following payment methods...
    Payment methods:
    # (1)Western Union money transfer(which is very easily proceeded at the post office and it can reach my side within two hours,)
    # (2)bank wire transfer
    # (3)Money Gram (recommend)

I know money transfers should be avoided. What is Money Gram?

What's the catch to the above?

I know that the bids are not finished yet and they will go for a higher price but is it safe to buy something like this?
Has anyone bought from these? Would love to hear how it went.

Steer clear. Probably a stolen/hacked account. You'll never see your stereo, or money again.
    I've reported it to ebay

    My reasoning:
The seller has only sold one item on ebay before, generally buys low value goods. And suddenly is selling cheap, high end car-audio equipment. Does it sound suspicious now?

<edit>plus on the "About Me" page:
I am an artist and stay at home mom. My loves in life are taking care of my husband, Danny. my children, Stephanie, Natalie, Paul, and Bobby. Now that the 3 oldest are grown and away from home, I have more time to explore other loves in life, painting, working out, reading, writing, and of course, shopping. With 3 grandchildren to buy for, I have found eBay the most economical resource, not to mention I don't have to tramp around town looking for what I want. I'm picky, I know good quality and I have an excellant sense of style. Hopefully, these qualities can be seen in my store. I am very proud to include a link to a website dedicated to an award winning photo I took in 2003. Please take a minute and check it out. Good luck shopping:-)
 Sounds definitely like an ICE aficionado

I bought a radio of Ebay this summer. I received the item within 5 working days and it was deliver by DHL.

I got a very good deal (me thinks), only part i thought was dear was the shipping.

Tried several UK sites and Irish sites for the same radio, and even with the shipping the Radio from Germany was still cheaper.

I bought the Panosonic cqc9700, lovely piece of kit

    Hey Gkelly2002,

What way did you pay for it?
I want to upgrade my stereo and was looking at ebay for it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭gabgab

Yeh I got one too, A sony cdx m630 I think it is not sure of the details though for €145 all in, was great deal and the ebayer even sorted me out when I had a problem and had to have a tiny part replaced..... Lucky though in fairness!!

Still there are deals to be had and follow the general rules, how long on ebay and is it a reasonable and not ridiculously low price and looking for PayPal, etc

Think the total i paid was around €300, that was well cheap compared to some of the Irish and UK sites that wanted around €450+ just for the radio and not including shipping.

Have to say i have used ebay a few times and i have never had a problem with them.

    Good luck hunting t5pwr :D

    P.S
If you are buying on ebay t5pwr check the sellers feedback score and to be safe pay by Paypal as its quick and traceable, plus nobody will get your credit card details.

I've been using Ebay now for a few years from stereos to cars. Avoid like the plague, any one who will only take "Payment methods:
    # (1)Western Union money transfer(which is very easily proceeded at the post office and it can reach my side within two hours,)
    # (2)bank wire transfer
    # (3)Money Gram (recommend)"

There is no come back thru Ebay if the deal was to go bad. As in no delivery of goods!
Also Hong Kong is unfortunately a bad one as well, seams to be a hell of a lot of fraud from there.

Also check the feed back: Especially this guy: http://feedback.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=islank

Oh and check the Post and packing £45 sterling!!!!!!

Like anything Ebay can be safe if you use you noodle. It it look like its to good to be true. Chances are that it is!

    Regards,
    Pip

About the postage and packing, a lot of people charge you less for the item but jack up the postage costs as a way of paying lower fees to Ebay. Doesn't make them bad people (although it might). Caveat emptor, as usual.

    READ FEEDBACK
simple as that, the first link had 97% all from sellers, then 2 buyers saying it is a hacked name....

Only problem is that should you avoid anyone that doesn't use paypal or equivalent?

If you're a newbie at eBay then I would advise that. There is another forum which is better suited to those type of questions.

Hey Kristok - what model was that? I am after a head unit with either memory card or usb - haven't seen with both yet! But they all tend to be weird brands. What is it like browsing songs? I assume it will read and traverse sub folders? Any other info/ur experience with it would be appreciated.

got my pioneer head unit on www.computeruniverse.com, half the price it was here.

http://www.pixmania.com is decent for car audio equipment too.... decent range. They have a headunit with USB/SD card reader for about €115 but again it's some nomark make ... H&B I think. The reviews of it are quite good though. I did see one of the big name brands with a USB port but it was way over-priced (300+).

The one I got was a dawoo the ones you usually see like this on ebay are mad looking no name brands. It was 4x40w wma/mp3, sd/mmc, usb and tiny pretty pointless remote oh and the most important thing it looks really nice and not like some cheap piece of hong kong rubbish. Pretty much does everything i wanted it to do the only thing i can say against it is it loads the mp3s from whatever you put in as one set so you cant skip albums or folders just forward by 1 or 10 at a time in saying that im not overly bothered by this. Cost just under 130 inc shipping.
