Building my own PC - Sites?

My laptop is pretty much on it's last legs. Seeing as how I don't use it as a portable device anymore (as it's pretty much tied to my LCD TV in my room), I'm just going to build my own PC.

Spec wise, I'm looking pretty high. I want this machine to last at least 3 years.

What I'm looking for is as follows

    3.0+Ghz P4
    1GB+ RAM (Maybe 2GB, either 2 x 1GB or 4 X 512GB)
    100GB + hard drive
    256MB+ Graphics
    DVD Dual Layer Burner
    Wireless Network Card
Multi Card (SD, MMC, Pro etc) Reader

Since I've never built one from scratch, I need some help. I can put them together, having worked with Dell (*shudder*) and messed around with my own home PCs.

Basically, what I need to know is what type of motherboard I should get (preferably with around 4 DIMM slots, PCI-Express), what's the best graphics card out at the moment, and generally what cables I need from motherboard to various parts and what not. Thanks in advance.

A list of cheap sites for parts that ship to Ireland, and/or online guides would be appreciated. I don't want to have to get everything at Maplin! :)

well for one dont go for a p4 go with amd, and id say the best cards out are the 7800gtx's from nvidia.... Good sites are overclockersuk.co.uk komplett.ie elarasystems.ie, and maybe peats.com......

    Whats ur budget??

I don't really have a budget as such as it's going to be drawn out over about 4 months wages. I'll probably by the mobo/processor and the chassis, then the various fans and RAM, followed by hard drives, disc drives and cards.

There you go :) I recommend getting a decent monitor too - LCD TV's arent great for games. Those opterons overclock by about 50% with no real effort :) If you've got more to spend, go for another 200gb hdd and go raid. The opteron 146 is equiv to a 3.6ghz P4+ apparently.
