    Hi I was just wondering do people use the effects loop on their amps and what advantages does it give you? I never considered it before. Do people use a line selector from the guitar to go to input and effects input.

    The effects loop is basically for putting an effect after the amp's preamp. Example, if you want delay but you want to delay the distorted tone you'd put the delay pedal in the loop. If you put the delay pedal in front of the amp, you'd distort the delay if you know what I mean. Also, sticking an EQ pedal into the amp's loop, it can do great things with the amps sound.

    EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE AN EQ PEDAL..it totally changes your tone and if anyone is having trouble with their distored sound not bein fat enough thats their 1st port of call...basically the amps input is before the amps effects loop in the effects chain thats my understanding of it anyways

    Input -> {AMP} preamp -> effects loop -> power amp {/AMP} -> Speakers

    That's how it works basically

    i use my EQ 24/7 dont know i how id live without it, they're a live saver, i tried it in the FX loop before but didnt like it, so its just in the front of the amp as a tone shaper and boost, + it pushes the amp a lil more, and i use a compressor too to get a great tone,

    + delay shud never be used in the chain! u have to use it in the fx loops it sounds gay in the chain

    Ya gotta be careful where you use certain effects. Can be worth experimenting sometimes though.

    Personally use wah before pre-amp and most else after (dont have much else though, 4 channel amp :)).

    I got an MXR kfk 10 band eq and no matter what i did i couldnt seem to make it give me the tight cutting tone i wanted, if i put it in the effects loop will it help me out a bit? Also i think i tried putting my distorsion pedal in a loop once and it killed the amps volume, any ideas what happened there?Its a randall rg 75 by the by

    it boosts and cuts certain frquencies in your guitar signal...

    i suppose they are mainly used for volume boost and colouring your tone for soloing...

    boosting the mids in an eq pedal is very popular because its the mids that seperates the guitar from the rest of the instruments in a band and will lift the guitar to the for front of a song

    Does it ever get a bit awkward with so many wires all over the place. wires from guitar to pedals then input. Then more from effects output to pedals and then to effects input. Thats a lot of wires including between pedals. Lots of wires = lots of $
