The Treehouse of Horror episode of season 17 aired yesterday. The opening is great, the first story is good but the last two are pretty weak IMO. Not a bad start to the season, but it probably won't stay like that. :(

*Edited due to incorrect information on my part.

Hmmm, it wasn't too bad I suppose but years ago we would have been expecting a LOT more. I didn't think much of the last 2 stories either.

Time was when I really used to look forward to the THOH episodes. The last few offerings have changed that.

Any chance that more than a handful of this seasons episodes will be good? :-/

Below are the story synopsis' of last Sundays episodes from The Simpsons Channel. Apparently, this is the fourth episode of the current season, not the first. My mistake.
Season 17 returns tonight with the fourth episode of the season, Treehouse Of Horror XVI. In “B.I.: Bartificial Intelligence”, The Simpsons adopt David, a newly developed artificial robot son, to replace Bart after he falls into a coma. In “Survival of the Fattest,” Mr. Burns invites Homer and his friends to his gigantic estate for a hunting tournament, but Homer and the gang learn they are the ones being the hunted on “The World Series Of Manhunter” hosted by Bradshaw. In “I’ve Grown a Costume on Your Face,” a costume contest goes awry when a real witch turns all the Springfieldians into real-life versions of their costumes, leaving Maggie dressed like a witch with the only real power to reverse the spell.

first part was good, last 2 were not so good
when they booted up the robot boy made me laugh and when Bart Cut through Homer also made me laugh, then the last 2 parts were a disappointment with part 2 marginally better than part 3

Shíte as usual. I honestly think the writers have gotten to the stage of merely thinking up punny titles (eg Bartificial Intelligence) and only then writing a story around it.

Watched the new episode of family guy then this simpsons episode straight after. I'm disgusted that the simpsons has dropped in quality so far from its heyday. Seems more like a commercial money spinner at this point. The end of the episode about adult illiteracy was actually serious

It was bloody awful. Stopped watching about halfway though the first story. It really has gone as low as it can go....

I laughed more in the opening 3 minutes of the latest Family Guy (the afghanistan bit) than I have at any entire Simpsons episode in recent memory.

    Oh yeah def!
And has anyone noticed how if they get the rights to something they use the hell out of it just for the sake of it because they have the rights..?

EG. in Side show bob episode he sings the song "I've grown acustomed to your face" name of story in later episode "I've grown a costume on your face"

Episode where bart and milhouse fight over wolfcastles daughter the song "she used to be my girl" is played during a montage, episode where marge's friend from school comes back as a hot shot reporter is called "She used to be my girl".....

There are others that I can't think of right now, it seems to be something I only notice...

It wasn't bad at all, I loved the couch gag. Still, it was a bit fractured for my liking (the Homer storyline).
