Here's a bit of a rarity. I didn't think there were any Datsun Cherrys left. At nearly €5,000, it's a bit expensive though.

A very low mileage car but being a UK import its a ball of rust waiting to beak out. Someone is taking a flyer with that price, hoping to make a killing !

Well, I suppose that depends on where it was stored for the past 25 years.

Hang on, what am I saying? It's a Datsun Cherry - some of them things were rusty before they even left the showroom.

Extremely rare car alright. I wonder if it is mostly original or mostly restored. Probably original as I can't imagine there would be much interest in restoring a vehicle such as this in the UK. Over there, 70s Japanese cars don't really have the nostalgia factor that they have over here.

This model of Datsun Cherry was one of the worst rusters of all time :) The car must have been looked after well (kept in a dehumidifed garage etc.) or else it would have dissolved long ago. So I don't think it's a ball of rust waiting to break out - as long as it continues to be cosseted :)

jaysus where did they dig that car up from:p
do you get a free ton of fillers with that.:)
dident the back axle break on most of them as well,or pull away from its mounting?

    A rarity indeed!

Yes, manta mad, the back chassis rusted before most of the rest of the bodywork and Datsun/Nissan Ireland ended up buying back any one they could get in order to avoid possible lawsuits.

I recall a part-time car dealer based in Tallaght, buying a blue Cherry from my father for c.£300 (my father had bought it the day before for £50 ! :) )
The dealer was towing them (with an A Frame :D) up to a nissan garage contact in Dublin, and no doubt getting a nice profit for his trouble.

I recall seeing one for sale on a website about six months ago .......I think it was in New Zealand.

On a similar theme, here's another Japanese "blast from the past"

Remember how common these used to be in the 70s and 80s.
