A toolbar seems to have installed itself on my computer and try as i might I can't seem to get rid of it. It does absolutley nothing! It has an icon for blocking pop-ups but it doesn't even perform that function. I can't rid of it like others by right clicking and unselecting it! It is very annoying!! I would really appreciate it if someone could help me! I tried to take a pic of it but I'm not sure if this will work out so bear with me! untitled.jpg

    http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html?tag=pop

Download this program and scan your computer. Your computer might have a hijacker or spyware.

Download Microsoft Anti Spyware from microsoft.com and run it.

    This should remove it:)

ignore those pop ups! A lot of those pop ups end up with you installing even more spyware. Just install one (or all) of

    1) Spybot Search and Destroy
    2) Ad Aware
    3) Microsoft Antispyware

    And you'll be safe.

can you give more details on bar?

in IE if you click on View->toolbars what is listed?

Or maybe attach a bigger pic? (Click on manage attachments button under the reply box)

When I click on view and toolbars the foolowing is listed:
Standard buttons, Address bar, Links, msn, google, Lock the Toolbars, customize. there are only ticks beside the first two listed. I'll get to work on enlarging pic for you now!

You might need to run it at the start-up.Or restart and the program will clean the system then

This is the toolbar itself. I have just noticed that when it's loading a message comes up that says 'search' bar loading? I don't know if that makes any difference. I tried the browser sentinel but it doesn't recognise it either!

Can you right click on the top of Internet Explorer, just above the toolbar, where it lets you choose which toolbars to show?

    It might display the name.

Maybe there's something in your Add/Remove programs you can uninstall that way?

Other than that everything I'd do has been said already, other than "Use Firefox instead!".

You must not read posts either! If you would refer back to post number 17? I tried browser sentinel but it doesn't work either!;)

Maybe you'd uninstall IE and reinstall it? *I hope this hasn't been posted yet, cause I haven't looked at the thread*

    You know from add/remove components

please accept my apologies cyberghost.... I should listen to my own advice! I gave browser sentinel another go. i stupidly didn't check bhq... i only checked toolbars.... I shall crawl away now.... (Memo to self: read posts fully) :)

IE can't be uninstalled through the Add/Remove list, it's integrated like a sum' b1tch into the os, that only removes the shortcut from the desktop! (if I remember correctly)

Like I said, get Firefox and block IE using your friendly neighbourhood firewall, that's what I did and I never looked back, IE is still rotting in it's little folder, never to get any action again. HA!

Same here, Give me one good reason why I should ever start using it again.
Actualy I have an idea for a project, that uses IE but eliminates the need to open the actual browser in order to access the Windows Update site.

You need to use IE to update Windows? :\
I turn on the Automatic Updates service etc. every so often and it does the job... I think.
Or you could always use AutopatcherXP
