Should I get a chequebook?

I am with BOI. I want a way of tracking the rent I pay so I am think a chequebook might be a good answer. Are there any pitfalls or extra costs with a chequebook? How much is it a year assuming I am never overdrawn?

I know most of you will say get a receipt but I am very good friends with the landlord plus I never signed a lease. I reckon he would see it as I don't trust him. It's cheap rent so don't want to make a fuss.

I'd still ask for the reciept - if you're good friends with him he'll understand - I'm sure he wouldn't be shy about pointing out if you were short one month.

    Regardless of the relationship.
