Changing file type?

Had a problem with one of my hard drives and when i tried to do CHKDSK in dos mode it came up with an error that the master file table was corrupt. tried to recover the drive but couldnt so formatted the drive and used virtual lab to recover the files. the problem now is that some of the files will not open. the files types are .wmv and .jpeg. when u right click on the file and go to summary the file type is now .pcd which is the format for kodak pictures. i never had any software from kodak installed so i dont know how it changed but i want to change the file type back to the original one so i can view .wmv and .jpeg files.

any help would be much appreciated.

Control Panel/Folder Options (Or windows explorer/Tools/Folder option )

    File Types tab

Locate wmv, change the "Opens with" value to Windows media player
Locate jpeg, change to microsoft photo editor

(Kodak Imaging is installed by default with windows)

start windows media player and use file->open to run the wmv files. If they won't load then they weren't recovered correctly and are corrupt.
