Magnetic interference last night?

Would it be possible for such a thing as magnetic interfence to occur that would cause electronic items to hum a little?

It's happened once or twice before that some equipment at home had an audible humming noise - along the lines of an ESB substation only on a much much smaller scale. Usually it's all fine and unnoticable. Last night it happened again and this time the dogs were acting unusually too.

I've heard something along the lines of sunspots causing interference - would this be related in any way?

    It is what it's.
