OK, Playing on Allin at the low levels to try and get my 750 hands, I'd been playing really tight and aggressive but it was this villians first hand at the table (literally - just sat down and forced to pay the BB in this hand) so obviously no read on him at all and he didn't know how tight I was playing either - would you play any other streets differently and what would you do on the river????

By saying I dont know much and any opinion is probably worthless at best but not sure you could have done much else than what you did. You have flopped a fairly decent monster on the flop so first thought has to be maximising the money you can take, you bet out and got raised, though maybe he did that to chase off any flush draws that might be there. Other than that maybe to check on the turn when the second jack hit might have helped, though either way you were betting anyway I guess. Hopefully he was playing with ace jack because surely he was have raised preflop with either eights or queens?

Nice to see a lurker converted to a poster... :)

I tend to bet out regardless of hitting or not, it gives me info about what hands people possible hold based on what they have done previously, in this hand I was trying to build the pot on the flop so it gave me the chance to take down a big pot, I flat called the re-raise because I didn't want to frighten off my customer, I didn't know how he played so I wasn't sure how best to stack him.

cant see a house here. I would re raise. probably has hit trips or had a busted flush draw and trying to buy pot.

I'll leave it over night to see what responses come in before saying what I did and what happened, OK with the line here so far???

to posting rather than lurking, and I am sure that by spouting enough rubbish myself that I will get an education too. I like the check on the river too as it allowed him to give you a read on what you had to call. With him betting the 4.40 on the turn but only 2.8 on the river you would have to think you are ahead and that jem is right that he is probably trying to buy the pot , he could have taken a free check on the end but didnt and if he had the house I would guess he would have bet more than the 2.8.

It was actually a very good bet on the river by him IMO, looks small enough to be a value bet and also easy to get away from if I re-raise him if he was trying to buy the pot...

EDIT - Just a shame I didn't know if he knew what he was doing - would have made the hand so much easier

hope u didn't fold, i dont think he has a house if he had j q he would raise preflop(low limits) and if he had a house he would of gone all in. u get that at .10/.20.

Nothing wrong with your play up to the river. With the board paired, I'd have just called at the end. No way would I re-raise here in case he has the house.

But what do I know, I'm crap at cash games.
