    Hey all,

I have a Dell Dimension V400 pc. It only has a 10gb hdd and its really slow. You can hear the drive spinning everytime you try to run a program, etc.

I'm going to buy a new HDD...could you tell me is there anyway of transfering EVERYTHING (system files, etc) from the old drive to the new drive so I can get rid of the old drive altogether.

    Thanks,

    Jamie

I know of a company called Orlogix that do a product called transfer my pc.... all done through a parallel/serial cable. Thats if you want to buy software.

Some Harddisk manufacturers (Seagate springs to mind) actually provide software with new drives.Maybe you could look down that route when buy a new disk?

Lastly, you could consider configuring your old disk as a slave to your new disk, and copy all your stuff that way. It would be a helluvalot faster than most other commericially available techniques!:v:

Norton ghost is the tool for you
trial version can be found around the place.

I've used this on an industrial level. and place 100% confidence in it.
