Anyone watch any of the first test, a stroll in the park for Australia. West Indies are a very very poor side right now, a 3-0 drubbing on the cards

Ya Warne was class in the first test! Where is the second test on? Is it in Brisbane again?
If its in Sydney might go along to it, never got a chance to go see them against the World XI, beat them too quickly!!

The next is in Hobart tomorrow/tonight, and then Adelaide.

South Africa tour then, the MCG test is always Boxing Day in Melbourne, and the Sydney test always starts on the 2nd January. The 1st test is in Perth, 16th December.

Windies collapsed to a woeful 149 all out last night, on what is a fantastic batting pitch.

Watched most of it as i'm off sick this week :D:D:D

Great that now the England match is over this is starting.

Oz strolled to 60-0 at the close of play. I really fear for this Windies team.

Oz could put 500 up if they want.

I didnt get to see any of it.What is the wicket like.I am getting mixed signals from the score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,420 ✭✭✭WellyJ

The wicket is a batsmans dream.

Even bounce, not much seam movement, not much for the spinners though McGill done well, Warne seemed to be bowling injured,

Dont think he has recovered from that back injury

I can see a huge total for Australia.

Damn rain delaying the start of play in Hobart

Means i'm gonna be bored all night unless it stops  :(

Right well we got some play finally,

Australia closed at 256/1 , a first innings lead of 107 with 9 wickets in hand.

Both openers Hayden and Hussey hitting centuries with Hussey unbeaten on 116.

Looks like Oz will only be batting once in this one......

it has to be said that thw windies are really quite abissmal

they have say 3 players, Chanderpaul, Gayle, and Lara, and at that, poor old lara is showing his age

the aussies are gonna beat them like red haired step children

sometimes sickening to watch, because, im sire, like alot of other people, i have a soft spot for the windies, and seeing them getting beaten so bad, really is hard to watch :(

True, but one man today staved off the Aussie to make them bat again.

    DJJ Bravo b Warne 113 runs, 290 mins, 202 balls, 15 fours.

    Close of play, Day 4...
    West Indies 149 & 334 (122.0 ov)
    Australia 406

West Indies lead by 77 runs with 0 wickets remaining

Aussies got to 78, with just the loss of Matty Hayden with just the 1 to win.

Big news out of Australia is that Michael Clarke has been dropped. Hussey stays, with Langer fit again. Clarke looses out.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned this during the Ashes, but this doesnt come as a surprise to me. Golden wonder turned back into a spud, tbh. 516 runs at 24.57 in 15 Tests since his two wonder tons+ against India and NZ.

Great to see Lara in the runs again - 11,000 now and soon to be all time top test runs scorer. Sachin's had a rough time recently but overall Lara definetly gets the nod from me. Hopefully the windies can put something decent together and give the aussies a match

Double hundred. 202*, and 12 runs away from passing AR Border.

West Indies 352/7 after winning the toss and batting first.

And, more amazingly, 90 overs were bowled in a days play. :D

quality days cricket and lara is on fire.

The man is a living and playing cricket legend

Lara is now 13 ahead of AR Border. Out for 226.

Is it me or is it just when Lara has a personal record to get, he performs? This is the last test against the Aussies this time round.
I felt that way in the last test against England in 2004, when he got 400, after Matty Hayden scored 385 against Zimbabwe..... rather selfish....

    West Indies 405
    Australia 229/3 (61.0 ov)

    Langer out for 99.

superb display by Lara, pity he got out from McGrath, but ah well

i never seen it before, but they showed his average, once he hits 100, can you believe its 193!!!!!!! thats phenomanal

with a bit of lukc the windies will get the aussies out quivk enough, and make a game of this last test, just to restore some credibility

Day 3; Aussies all out for 428, the tail did not wag one bit, Gilchrist fails again at Adelaide, Mike Hussey hung around for 133 no, no one hung around with him bar McGill for 22. Bravo brilliantly bowled 6-84, the c&b off Warne is amazing.

First innings lead of just 23.

The Windies batted for a further 21 overs before close of play, reaching 68/2, Sarwan scoring 53 no.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,913 ✭✭✭JacksonHeightsOwn

Cahanderpauls catch from Gilchrist was something special as well

i watched it until 4 this morning, but i was too tired to stay up any later

hopefully the windies will have another good innings in them, ans hopefully grab this test :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 992 ✭✭✭mchurl

hopefully the windies put up a decent total for the aussies to chase

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

    Um, Not really

Day 4: Windies all out for 204, Warne taking a 6-fer and Lee the other 4. Lara only made 17 this time round, Bravo top scoring, 64.

So. The Aussies are chasing 182 to win, and have stuttered, 76/2 off 28 overs, Langer out for 20 and Ponting for 3, but unless the Aussies go back to old ways trying to chase a low total, this will be over before lunch.

    A good test match, nonetheless!

cant really see the aussies losing from this situation but you never know. A few early wickets would change the whole picture!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 79 ✭✭bush doctor

Good effort by Dwayne Bravo - at least gave them something to defend.

Didn't see any of the action but it sounds like the aussies got lucky with a good few decisions.

Ah well a better show by the windies anyway and lets hope bravo & fidel can turn it on tonight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

Day 5: (lasted 20 minutes longer than I predicted!)

Australia won by 7 wickets, scoring 182/3, Hayden not out 87.

Man of the match, Brian Lara; Man of the series; Matty Hayden.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 992 ✭✭✭mchurl

the aussies are such a quality outfit and matty hayden, well what a series
