I know nothing about sata hard drives. I have a sata in my pc at current, needs to be replaced, can I just go out and buy one, stick it in, and install xp on it like a regular ide one?

Because I've been hearing alot of crap about drivers, bios updates, and all kinds of malarky when it comes to sata...

Buy a new one same spec as one inside, use the utilities disk you get with the new HD to copy the Xp installation to the new one and then switch them in the case.

    easy really :D

The only issue I have heard about XP and SATA is that when installing XP (only when installing) if you dont have the correct drivers available on floppy to load before you install, the drive wont be recognised.

Used to be a problem. Sorted with most recent motherboards
