    Hey,
Just wondering what the Trinity policy was regarding legal downloads?

    Example:
    I want to download
    - Gentoo Linux from Heanet
    - Some Windows Service Packs

Would both of these be acceptable, or will they whine that 1GB has gone through my account?

BTW, I realise I don't have enough filestorage to do this, I will be downloading directly onto my mp3 player

    Thanks,
    snappieT

Hmmm..I doubt they'll care too much, as long as you pick a low-traffic time (like early in the morning or late in the evening, after about 8pm).

in my experence they really won't care........ most ms stuff is probally going to be cache'd by the proxies anyway....

In fairness, i've run 6 gigs of traffic through it before in less than an hour and a half - they dont care. no one uses the bandwidth anyhow like.

    Grand-o then...

Expect not to do anything on the TCD network for the next 2 weeks straight, I'm going to create my own personal mirror of heanet!

what is the point of that in fairness? o and you can only use all of tcds bandwidth from a handfull of places imo so doubt you can do anything like cripple the connection...

HEAnet is great for grabbing anything tbh - downloads are fantastically fast and browsing through the FTP you do find some gems - though i mainly only use it for linux ISO's really.

You'll run through heanet so fast it will barely be a blip on the radar.

@serenity: *yeah, I was joking about making a complete mirror. I also realise that it would be impossible to cripple a gigabit network on a megabit connection. I hope you realise the need to take a chill pill also.

Its a 1GB connection throttled to 180MB. It was never more than 180MB.
