Probably a longshot...

But I just recently gave a friend a Planet 21 Executive leather laptop case which I got free with my 8600 last year.
Now the trouble is that in her glee she accidentally threw out the box and documentation, including the combination code for the little clasp lock on the front
Like I say it's a longshot but does anyone have one of these cases, or know the initial combination code (IIRC the code can be changed by the user, though I may be mistaken)?

I've mailed dell but I don't expect to hear back from them on a non-tech matter, and google has turned up nothing. This thing retails for €110 from dell so I'd prefer it didn't end up in the bin or with a useless clasp, so any suggestions are welcome.

Could your friend not just start at 000 (or 0000) and spend an hour or whatever clocking up through the combinations to 999 and surely at some stage they will hit on the right one? Could be the only way?

Yeah that is something of a last resort...and she's not the patient type lol
Thx for the suggestions anyway...and Nukem makes a good point, if anyone does happen to know the default.

Do you know how many combinations that is?

504 if I remember how to use my calculator That will take all day. And you’ll probably miss one or two which will prob turn out to be the code!

Can you ring the bags manufacture?

Tell me you were being funny in some sophisticated way. 000 to 999 is rather obviously a thousand combinations:)

I thought it was if you have 10 numbers 0-9 with 3 permutations per number.

So its 10 C 3 or or something like that. I actually ****ed up. I did 9 C 3 so that actually number is 720.

Its called permutations of n different objects taking r of them at a time or some ****. Will have to look up my text and tests 5!

And sorry I'm not taking the piss just saying that if you try and enter every possible combination it may take a while!

Wouldn't actually take that long to scroll through the numbers to get the right code. I had a bike lock which I forgot the code to. Turns out the code was something like 5688 or something equally high and it took me less than 15 minutes to rediscover it by starting at 0000 and working up in one number incremements.
