    I was reading through various press releases on some financial web sites, when I came across the following press release:

    http://www.iii.co.uk/shares/?type=news&articleid=5124967&action=article

    Basic summary:
    * Fibre to the house network
    * Data, Voice, TV and VOD services
    * New Operator?
    * Starting in December??

    You can see a slightly better/more expanded press release if you go to the FT website and look up Emblaze or Orca Interactive.

    Now I know to always take financial press releases with a serious pinch of salt, but this is making a lot of claims. but with no names mentioned.

    Obviously if this is (in anyway) true, this could be very good news indeed, does anyone know what the story is with this at all?

    I could easily be adding two and two together and getting 5, but I went to the comreg site (on the basis that you'd need to be licensed to do this) and found only one company that looks like they fit the bill (well, to my mind anyway).
    A company called 'Magnet Networks' has been licensed in the Dublin area for broadband (internet access), telephony and television network services.

    Their website doesn't say an awful lot
    http://www.magnetnetworks.com/

    Still, it looks like there might indeed be a new TV (and broadband etc.) service provider coming, which would be great.

    Interesting ...

    They are also heavly recruiting ( http://www.irishjobs.ie/job_new.asp?id=780790&JMID=2560&RefPage=Member ) for IP related positions. They are based in Dublin 17.

    On a roll now :D

    Had a look on the 'Magnet Networks' site, nothing much to see yet, but if you look at the source code of the HTML pages you'll see two things mentioned:

    - A company called Industria
    - A username/email address of gudjon

    Industria are an Icelandic (I think) company specialising in services/products to new entrants in the broadband/TV/services field. On their website they're advertising a job in Dublin also.

    gudjon is probably Gudjon Mar Gudjonsson, who is the Vice President of Industria - who, if we look up the following conference website
    http://www.digitalreykjavik.com/Home/Topics/GudjonMarGudjonsson/

    was a conference sponsored by (among others) both Industria and Orca Interactive (represented at the conference by Sefy Ariely)
    http://www.digitalreykjavik.com/Home/Topics/SefyAriely/

    So, looks like the Orca Interactive press release may well have been talking about Industria - who are definitely doing work for 'Magnet Networks' - who have licenses in the Dublin area for Internet access, Telephony services and TV.

    Now, as this looks like it is indeed the real deal, how do you think they're planning on getting their services into homes - are we talking about lots of digging up of roads? If it really is fibre to the home (ftth), wow. Even ignoring the TV aspect of things for a second, the potential broadband (internet) access speeds would/could be amazing.

    Well, that seems to have put it together.

    Did a google of industria with magnet networks. Got the following hit

    http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=18788

    Talks about providing services to new housing developments, so probably no chance that I can get it :(

    Anyway, go to the above link to get details, but basically they're talking about offering TV etc. but also initial offering of 2Mb connection to the home [even 10Mb mentioned].

    Probably ;)

    But didn't know to go looking for those keywords till I had done some digging :)

    Besides always good to dig out a bit more info for people (about Orca Interactive technology being used)
