    Details of 1681LCi
    Pentium-M 715 (1.5Ghz/400Mhz FSB/2MB L2Cache),
    Microsoft« Windows« XP Home,
    512MB (2*256) DDR,
    60GB,
    CD-RW+DVD Combo,
ATi Mobility Radeon 9700 64MB VGA,
    15.0" XGA, Modem,
    Wired & Wireless 802.11g LAN,
    4-Cell Li-Ion,
    Arcade, 3-in-1 Card Reader

I know very little about computers.
I want to buy a laptop, well basically so I can shop over the internet and play the Sims 2. I'm planning to get ripwave broadband put in.

I'm also planning to do a masters next year so it'll need to be able to take nice big word documents, excel spreadsheets and Mathcad. Having the possibility of using Autocad (even if only a studenty version) would be good.

Will the spec above do the job?
It's an Acer laptop and costs just over a grand in euro (without VAT)
or has anyone spotted anything better lately?

Ya that looks fairly nice.Especially without the VAT.
If your doing your master i imagine you will be doing lots of important work on the comp so might advise gettin an external HDD as backup.

Also check here(beware prices already exclude TAX :( )
Still some ok deals.Where are you buying from

anybody any comments to make on them or ACER?

The dell outlet is a good spot too but unless I'm missing something I think the prices work roughly the same.
