    Lads

Anyone have any experience with External DVD Writers? what would you recommend?

I am looking at buying one but know very little.
I was looking at one here.

    http://www.digidave.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=36

    What you think?
    Thanks

BTW - If you look at that product as a guest and view the price, then register and login the price has come down, strange!!!

    Yop,

I dont even have a DVD burner yet :o, but i heard LiteON is a top make. Can I ask why you want external (No free bays?), internal ones are a cinch to install + less clutter.

    Looking at the specs....

    USB2.0 (compatiable with USB1.1)
    Dual Format
    Write DVD's at 12x
    Write CD's at 48x
    Read DVD's at 12x
    2MB Buffer

I thought that USB 1.1 wasn't anywhere near fast enough to burn DVDs... Or does this just refer to the CD burning capabilities?

What if he is using a laptop? Or has no slots free?

I have an external DVD burner and never had a problem. Takes 3 minutes to burn an audio CD, a full DVD in about 12 mins. The reason I bought external is portability - my main PC is a laptop, and the DVD writer itself is dual voltage.
