Laptop with cracked LCD

My sister recently purchased a new laptop & somehow managed to crack the LCD display.

The laptop still works fine, but it's only a matter of time before the display goes.

Any ideas as to what to do with this? Dump it? Replace screen? It's worth 1400, so would be a pity if nothing can be done:(

get a regular monitor and plug it into it, is about all you can do really..... or get the manufacturer to repair it - $$$$

Cheers - probably will get a monitor so.

Sounds like it's the only option as I've heard replacing the screen is a non-runner

The cost of a replacement screen + fitting it, would probably be a lot closer to what the laptop is worth secondhand than you imagine.

If the liquid is leaking then it's only a matter of time.

You could get a an external TFT screen - OK it's not portable but it's close.

There is no chance she purchased additional accidental damage cover with it is there, pity it wasn't one of those places that let you buy the cover afterwards 'cos if you had the cover and the screen had got damaged a month later then they might be able to do something about it.
