Never listened to her stuff, not a nice way to go tho...

Struck me as a very rock and roll way to go, tbh smile.gif

Shame though, she was superb; and of course, Fairytale of New York is one of the best festive songs ever written. Strange really - most Christmas songs get on my nerves very quickly (I swear, I'll take a blowtorch to that Frosty the f*cking Snowman myself), but the chorus line of Fairytale of NY ("The boys of the NYPD choir still singing Galway Bay, and the bells were ringing out for Christmas Day") still sends little shivers down my spine. Great stuff altogether.

I heard someone say that Ronan Keating is doing a cover of the song with the insult-trading verse "toned down". I bet now he releases it as a "tribute" to McColl, w4nkah! > frown.gif

You don't need to be a mod to express an opinion re the resurrecting of a 14 y.o. thread.

I've seen this a bit recently, where someone suggests not resurrecting a thread, or staying on topic, only to be met with a "Are you a mod?" type accusation, dressed up as a question.

    i) The answer is obvious from the poster's profile

ii) There are some standing regulations on boards - no zombies; and stay on topic

...and no, I'm not a Mod.

I don't need to be a Mod to see that it's just common sense.

Yesterday was the anniversary of her untimely and tragic demise. Days is especially poignant. She had a lovely voice, and while Fairytale.. occasionally makes me vomit, I tolerate it for the sale of her memory.

Got to be a world record for oldest thread still going?

As for Kirsty herself, not a fan of her per se but anyone who had anything to do with Fairytale of New York is alright in my book.

    Six?

Try fourteen! I didn't even know Boards was in existence for fourteen years

Delighted to be reminded of the wonderful artist that Kirsty McColl was - apart from that awful dirge with Shane McGowan which has to rank as the worst Christmas song ever. Well, maybe apart from Slade.

She was killed by some FOXROCK F*cker lest we not forget,
going about his BIG BOAT off the coast doing what IT DOES BEST.

RIDING the REST OF US into THE. GROUND.

    RIP.
