Does anybody know where to get roubles. Do most Currency exchange counters do them or only some. Do they have to order them in or what.

If it is not a common currency that your bank deals in often then you may have to order it in

Turns out that it's not possible to get Russian roubles outside Russia in so far as they are not exchanged at Bureau de Changes outside Russia. This is what the AIB foreign currency counter staff said.

I think I got US dollars and brought them over with me and exchanged them in Russia for roubles when I went 2 or 3 years ago. If I recall correctly, it was quite easy to use Dollars in Russia, in so far as - you could go to any old shop and either pay in roubles or dollars.

Are you going over to Russia or do you just want Roubles?
