Firefox is an open source browser, and a lot of people would say that, yes, it is far superior to Internet Exploder.

    www.getfirefox.com

Try it out. You'll probably like it. It's got almost the exact same functionality of IE, but with about 1% the security vulnerabilities.

Since you're comparing it to Internet Explorer, I assume that you already know that its a web browser.

As for whether its better, thats a matter of choice, opinion and taste. You'll find people to argue all sides with you. In fact, its all been done before here. I recommend downloading it yourself and trying it out, or searching the boards for this often fought argument, before this (inevitably) falls into it all over again. Its merits have been sung by the choir a number of times before.

I think you got it slightly backwards there... you meant to say the following i assume:
It's got more functionality than IE, but with about 1% the security vulnerabilities.

Well, I have to be honest, there are some "Internet Explorer" only sites... though that is really the fault of the person who created the site and committed such a heinous act.

But seriously, Firefox doesn't handle CSSes very well. No... not very well at all.

Other than that, best browser ever. Has only crashed a couple times on me since .8 came out, mainly due to accidently holding Ctrl+T :D

This has been said before but:

View in IE extension is available at www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ - simply right click on the offending page and open it in IE. Not a problem as the majority of sites run fine, so it's hardly a reason not to get it.

the only site i've come across that doesn't work at all in firefox is the windows update site... and i can't imagine that ever working on anything other than IE (and stuff that is based on IE)
