    Hi,
hope I'm posting this in the right place if not then I apologise in advance...

I've trawled through the creative forums and found nothing so here goes, the situation is:

A teacher of mine gave me his soundcard which he doesn't need anymore - an audigy platinum eX, he gave me the cd's and cable's etc so I thought I was sorted.

Plugged it in, soundcard works like a charm, but the external box (for line out, headphones, midi, is simply not getting power, I know because the fibre optic ports don't have any lights on inside them.

Reading the manual I noticed a "power splitter cable", which afaics splits the power going to your cd-rom drive and the external box, but I don't seem to have one of these, I asked the teacher once and he said he'd have a look but he hasn't gotten back to me since (probably busy correcting tests etc), it's been a few weeks and I don't think it's gonna happen...

Don't really want to pester him considering he gave me such a good soundcard for nothing, do I need a power splitter cable? And if so, does anyone know where I can buy one? (and the price?)

Any other ideas would be helpful also, I thought it might be drivers but the soundcard works ok *most* of the time so I dunno....

    thanks,
    Fobia.

You'd be far better off in the computer forum tbh.
