UTV anamorphic widescreen - NTL MMDS Digital Galway

    Hi all,
I noticed in the past few days NTL have started broadcasting UTV in widescreen on MMDS Digital in Galway - at last. C4 and BBC went widescreen a few months ago, so now UTV are too, it's just the Irish channels that are 4x3 (out of the main 8). (Are they broadcast in widescreen on cable or Sky?)

This is both good and bad for me....
We have a widescreen TV in the lounge = GOOD!
We have a 29" 4x3 TV in the kitchen = BAD!

The thing is, that to get a signal to the kitchen from the single NTL box, I use the twin SCART output cable they supplied - one goes into the TV and the other into the VCR. I then run the RF output from the VCR through the wall into the kitchen!

So while having the NTL box set to widescreen ascpect is good so that the lounge TV automatically switches to wide mode to stretch out the anamorphic widescreen image, really the 4x3 setting would be better for the kitchen. As it is, I need to change the kitchen TV's settings into letterbox mode to avoid a vertically stretched picture, which leads to quite a small image.

I don't suppose anyone can think of a solution to this situation? Other than constantly switching the aspect setting of the the NTL box (which is a pain from the kitchen without a remote control in there)?

a solution may be to get another box

as for RTÉ being widescreen on cable/Sky, no to both

No, none of the Irish four output in widescreen.

No solution with just the one box really, other than going in to the lounge & changing it all the time. I have a similar setup in my kitchen & it doesn't really bother me that much that it's vertically stretched on some channels, mind you, most of the channels that output in widescreen are on the analogue service out there anyway (ie. BBC's, UTV, C4, E4, Sky Onc etc.)& thus unaffected.
