I was in the US on my way back from holidays in Australia and needed to get an xray on a suspected broken bone. How much? 550 us Dollars on the spot and they had the neck to send me a bill for a further 200 us dollars when I got home. So 750 us dollars for an xray and aN emergency doctor to look at it. They didn't actually do anything for me apart from the xray and advise me to see my GP when I got home. This was just a regular hospital.

Luckily I had travel insurance (albeit I had to pay up front and claim when I got home).

Message DO NOT EVER VISIT THE US OR LEAVE EUROPE WITHOUT TRAVEL INSURANCE OF SOME SORT - VHI/BUPA OR ONLINE TRAVEL INSURANCE.

    Jesus that a rip of.
I was inThailand with my wife last year and she broke her arm
    Two x-rays coat €4
    Medication painkillers €5.50
    Bandges €3

We had medical insurance but whats the point inn claiming. U.S.A. has a bit of a compo culture which drive medical costs high. Plus medical insurance for a single person is a bout €150 per month
