I find Brylcreem wax pretty good, although I only use the green or purple ones (green is strong, purple is ultra-strong) - the others are too floppy. About 3-4 euro a tub, as far as I remember.

yeh i sued to use brylcreem red but was way too "floppy",heh

    Yeah,
Osis thrill fiber gum, It rules,

Problem is you need to know someone in a salon to get it as its only for hairdressers...LOL

OR You can buy it from www.sbs-uk.net

Ugh, hate using hairgel of any sort.

A friend of mine swears by soap. He just covers his hands with soap as if he was washing them, then puts it in his hair. Holds brilliantly, doesn't smell and washes straight out. Plus its cheap.

On the odd occaision I do favor Brylcreem.

v05 extreme styling. costs about a 5er a tub in boots and should last a little while considering you have short hair.

I'm using Wella Shockwaves Xtrovert "rough n ready" clay...

    purple dax?

blue dax? they're really good but require a proper shampooing daily. the merits of which are debatable, especially with short hair.

Not a fan of dax myself, felt it left my hair greasy which was horrible and then like, I haven't straight hair so it did nothing for it, except made it shine  and then made it horrible to wash out..

Yeah - does the trick for me - I have short hair, dont style it much at all - I only use it coz if I dont I go fuzzy like an afro!

Soap works grand, unless its raining or you're at a gig and sweating your balls off, then you've got soap in your eyes and that aint all that tasty

King fisher or fish wax are my favs, available in the bigger boots. come in a blue and white tub, around 6-7 euro.
Followed by Lee Stafford "All messed up" or something along those lines - again in big boots, pink tub...
    all smell nice too!
used use red dax, but it tends to accumalate on the scalp - really icky.

I've used Brylcreem wax but it was a bit too thick, so I turned to Dax blue, which I found much better. Only problem is that its petrolium based, so it melts when it gets warm, and just runs off the hair onto the face! So I changed to Fructis stuff. Flipping brilliant, and its only €3.50 a tup!

American Crew too the Pomade one. Its only €10.95 here in the west, you should move down.
Interested on trying that Osis one, anyone else ever use it>?

    Japs

Fructis Surf Hair...I've got two inch spikes and it keeps them right up. About five quid a tub but worth it imo.

    simple solution
just do what i did, shave your head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭garthv

yeh i had the shaved head thing goin for a while but then when u wanna grow your hair back u end up lookin like a microphone for about 3 weeks

Purple Brylcreem works very well for me. If you use too little you might as well not bother though. Too much and you look like Cameron Diaz.

Bizzarly difficult to find in Cork though.

Bed head manipulator is pretty good. It lasts for absolutely ages, holds well and gives you a lot of control, doesn't clump and makes the hair look reasonably shiney.

Downsides are that your hair needs to be dry before using it, and it costs about €14 for a small tub.
