    Hi guys,

    Aldi

What do you think of this Aldi system? Do you reckon I could build something similar for less €€€? Anyone have any experience with Aldi computers, and does anyone know where I could find out more details, i.e. what mobo it is etc?

    Thanks.

Man..that system looks os sweet for jsut over 1000Euro...Im not too sure how it would go though...Never used or seen an alsi system in action but specs look nice but it aint saying waht GFX card they are using , more then likely for that cheap price it will be a PCI - Express X300SE Or something similar to that = BAD. But looks like a nice base to a system and to expand further on later...

Put in another stick of RAM and a geforce 5900 or a Raedon 9800 and you're set.

NOT FX 5900...are you mad ?? There terrible cards....9800Pro = ALOT Better....VOID the FX Series ....all desperate cards to a certain extent...

    A 6600GT or 6800GT Would make that system a killer system...or a 9800Pro is jsut nice... :)

That would be good...AC 97 i presum 7.1 Digital soundcard chip...No worries there unless you are into music editing and making , there fore you will need a Seperate soundcard...

I'm just looking for a bit of horse power coming form an old P3 750MHz, nothing too fancy - Im not a huge gamer but I suppose games, video editing, internet, DVD burning. Im still considering a self build (never did that before - though im not a complete newbie).

So you think onboard sound is ok to go for? I mean, its not like going for onboards graphics is it??

Ye...onboard sound these days is great. No probs with it. I use my Onboard 7.1Digital with Coaxail and Optical out. Its great no probs with it but i would NEVER Use onboard Video...

I think the PC is the one on this page (left hand side, under Aldi). It's the one that was on sale in Germany last week.

    GeForce 6610XL.

Nope the Gfx card is good as far as I know it's a 6600XL, which should play most games at 1024*768. Here is an article on it.

I have last year's Aldi pc offer and apart from the great SP2 Disaster, I am very impressed.Ther are detailed reviews of it on the Computer Active site, and also pics of the inside, etc, if you google the model number, a lot of them in German.
My brorher was so impressed he bought the next offer, which was better and cheaper, and I use an TFT monitor, 15'', €250. And I am really happy with all their gear.Just get there early!
