tv/video combination unit

    the mother is thinking of picking up one of those combination tv/video players for the sister for xmas.

    my dad has had one in work though and he says that if you are recording on that video player you can only watch that station on the tv

    just wondering is this the case for all of these type of units or does anyone have one which you can record something on it and watch something else.

    It depends on the model. You want a combo with dual (2) tuners so that you can watch one thing while recording another.
