Want to buy new ram, advice needed please.

Im looking to order some ram for my machine from elara,where i bought this machine.
Apparently the ram i have in this machine only comes in a single 512mb stick where as currently i have 2x256 mb sticks.
The ram is
Mushkin 512mb PC 3200 Level2 2-2-2 (2x256mb).
The motherboard is
D865PERL mPGA478 i865PE ATX Max 4GB AGP 8x800HHz FSB.
If i buy this 512 stick will it be a problem taking into account the already 2x256 sticks?
Can i do this or do i need 2x256 configuration again? which apparently cannot be bought this way anymore .

Are you asking wheter you can add another 512mb to the pc or are you looking to replace the 2x256mb sticks?

If your adding them you will need to open up the pc and look inside to see if you have a spare ram slot to put it in.

I also have a D865PERL and there is 4 slots for RAM so you should be fine.

It's an intel board, not too expensive and it hasnt given me any problems to date. I bought it in my local computer shop for in/around 100e a few months back.

Basically i need to know if i can add a single 512 stick beside the 2 256 sticks already in machine?

Is it a case of just popping in the ram without need to configure anything?

if u go to www.crucial.co.uk. u can enter the mobo name and they will tell u exactly what ram ur mobo will take. costs about 90€ for 512mb of pc3200. u can then buy it from komplett.
