there are ways around it. especially if you already have a computer society and a free lab or two in the college.

I set up the console gameing thing in maynooth about 3 years ago where we would play console games on a big projector in one of the theatre halls every thursday. But this year ive no time for it so i think someone else is running it.

In relation to lans, we normally have a lan every month. There is one coming up on the 11th and 12th. Of course you need to bring your own computer to the lan. There isnt any chance of getting a lab and using the computers there for gameing. Anything of that sort isnt allowed. Mainly because its hassle for them. I tryed a number of times a few years ago.

Anyone from the college is welcome to come along to the lans, but without a computer youll be lucky to get a few games on someone else's computer but thats about it. In relation to non college members coming to a minds lan, It should be ok , but im not sure. But pm me if you would like to come and are in the general area.

My house mate is running the games console nights, will be on a Thursday night, once they get it started, but they're still waiting to get a free room.

sorry for the late reply, ye i was thinking of setting up a intercollege lan a year or two back but never really got anything going. ill ask around if there is any interest but im not sure if id go this year to anythning like that as ive no time this year. the next lan that minds will probably be haveing will be on the weekend of 31/january 1/febuary.

a big lan like that needs a venue and the rds sounds like a lot of trouble. the best way would be to hold it in one of the colleges, as there would have to be a suitable room or place to book for such a lan. and if its a success you could hold it in another college the next year.
