The Lantians built the stargates and they where the 2nd 3rd or 4th most powerfull race

the 1st being wraith the 2nd either being furling asguard or lantian
we havent seen furlings so we dont know how to rate them but when it comes to lantian vs asgaurd most ppl say lantians have better tech and yes it would seem that way but the asgaurd have far superier transporter tech than the lantians

when they finanley add the furlings how powerfull will they be do u think?

also who wuld win Wraith or Replicators?

    ancients

yes the wraith do suck but they are the most powerfull race in SG1 so far so we pretty much have to accept it

I agree, the wraith are pretty poor replacements for the 'shiny eyes' of SG1, if the kicked the ancients asses and are no. 1 then lets have it on.
The problem is budget, its got a big budget but not big enough to sci-fi it up.
I'm starting to get that ENTERPRISE feeling, I am

    enterprise feeling?

as far as i can tell the asgard would be stronger than the wraith

what i want to know is why they have forgot about the tolen, ye s the were destroyed by anubis but come on they were powerful

and what about that other uber powerful race (the one that the guy who played quark was part of) who i cant remember the name of they had a huge flying city which looked better than atlantis

The Nox. They don't want to interfere in the development of the other races so that's why we've not heard from them since. Having said that, a couple more mentions would be good.
As to the Furlings, I'm always expecting us to encounter them.

The Wraith? They've potential. "The Defiant One" shows some of that. Also the pilot episode - Rising - hinted that the Wraith we've seen so far are only guardians for much more powerful Wraith. That's what I'm hoping to se - all this untapped power. As it currently stands, the Goa'uld are a much more interesting force but it may yet change.

The asguard have been depleted by war so they will have their hands full rebuilding to be much of a threat to anyone tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,082 ✭✭✭Nukem

Think the wraith are balls.Although they have them cool looking foot soldiers but nah!!!! They suck. Pretty sure the Asguard would kick there asses.
Wanna see more guns and stuff lots more and a bit of a more continous plot line in both SG-A and SG-1 going very slowly.

Ya where and who the hell are the Furlings or whatever there called:confused:

I've been wondering about the Ancients sudden change from Double hard barsta*ds in SG1 to wimps in SGA.

We know the Ancients ended up ascending - which probably makes them more powerful than anyone else. Therefore they either got their asses kicked by the wraith earlier in their 'career' - this also explains why Atlantis base is far lower tech than most of the Ancient gadgets we've seen in SG1. (A star gate with fairy lights anyone?)

The Atlantian Ancients were some kinda wimpy offshoot that went to Atlantis and got their asses kicked then either died out or went running home to mama - whilst the rest of the ancients were pottering around the milky way for several thousand years kicking the Goa'uld's asses before ascending.

Unless its been said in a episode of Atlantis iv let to see you just made up the name "lantians" and it sounds crap no self respecting trans galactic people would call themselves lantians ;)

I found this site here that uses the term Lantians to describe people of Atlantis, but I'm still not sure I've heard it in the show.

For spellings though, I'd really recommend checking out Gateworld's Omnipedia. Great resource.

If it was the humans or any one other than the ancients themselfs who used the name lantians then its only conjecture on their behalf.Anyways why aren’t we calling them the ancients anymore? Even the frigging asguard call them the ancients and they knew them!

so would u go around caling ur species the anhients.

    Sure why not?

"Their once was a powerful alliance consisting of the asguard ancients nox and furlings" the asguard knew them they referred to them as the ancients it’s most likely their species name or how they liked to be referred as. But at the end of the day unless a ancient himself is found and refers to himself as a lantiant then by the best cannon reference we have the Atlantis city builders where called the ancients.

    Me thinks

The correct term for the people of Atlantis is actually Atlanteans. It's used in all translations of Plato's writings on the subject.

Being omni-present and having the ability to smite your enemies at will makes you #1 in my book. Ancients, then Wraith, then Asguard.

Took a quick look at the transcript for that episode. I didn't read it as I don't want to spoil the episode, but there is a line where a wraith calls them Atlanteans.

So are all ancients called Atlanteans or just the ones that lived in Atlantis? I'd say just the ones from Atlantis. Would you really name a city after your race? That sounds a bit stupid to me. Can you imagine a city called Asguardia or Humanous?

So would I. I'm assuming they're using the term Atlanteans to clearly distinguish between the Pegasus Galaxy Ancients who were defeated by the Wraith, and those Ancients who went all Oma Desala and ascended. After all we use our country to mark us - Irish, English, Kenyan, whatever - but we're still all humans.

Think that sums it up exactly.
And there is a distinction between the Atlanteans being beaten by the wraiths and those that ascended.
Atlantis was a City they "made lost".
I'd imagine a colony or something.
Also, the warhead from the "Jumper's" seems to be similar to that ones used in the outpost on Earth to destroy Anubis' fleet. Thats pretty powerful in my mind as you would have to assume that they have bigger ships.
Fact is we've actually seen very little of the Ancients technology, apart from the really cool city that floats/submerges, the personal shield that is impervious to gas/liquid/solids, none of this velocity crap! Also the stargate system is another pretty impressive technology they've been credited with, along with the "Time machine".

All in all, I think the Ancients come out on top.

Word of advice, never get into an arguement with me about Stargate, I'll always win :P

Greg (the Wraith in that episode as he's become known as :P) clearly called the Ancients Atlantians. If you heard Lantians I would recommend getting your hearing checked. (I've watched the episode 5 times so far by the way :P)

I specifically went over that part several times. It does sound a bit like lantian, but it's Atlantian. All the other times they say Atlantian. The guy playing "greg" (James Lafazanos) had prostectic Wraith teeth in and his voice is flanged.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

ep 14 or maybe 13 one of the wraith reffered to them as Lantians and it has been mentioned lots of times in the show..

Anyway back on topic... The Ancients WERE more powerful than the wraith, there was just a lot more of the wraith so eventually they won.. not surprising since the wraith probably started attacking while they were beginning to ascend so they did not have to many to till.

Oh there is another race out there.. someone made that virus that kills humans (not lantians or those with the gene).

Atlantis has barely been tapped for what it can do. they dont have enough power to even run most of it let alone know how. The lantian weapons are superior to everything all the others have shown.. though the wraith have barely been seen, only the few caretakers they have encountered...

Look people just watch and see!!

Its probble that the anchients made that weapon that only kills humans

The atlantians ships where more powerfull than wraith hive ships we knew this
also why do u think the wraith have never tried to leave there glaxy is it beyond there tech?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MrPinK

Could be, but I'd imagine it's their dietary requirements that are the problem. Galaxies are very far appart. They'd need to stock up on an awful lot of people to snack on during the long journey, and then there's the possibility that there'd be no one there for them to eat once they got there. The female Wraith in the first episode was very keen to find out the location of earth. I'd say they probably would make the trip if they knew there was another galaxy filled with humans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

Indeed a good point the wraith must not know of other galaxys with humansv however this means that there is infact 3 evulations of the human form

    Anchients
Humans currant humans in thw galaxy taken from earth by the gouauld

Other the race of humans that must have existed in the pegusas galaxy. the anchients went there to sperad life in a galxy where there appeared to be none. this means the anchients didnt come from or ever go to pegasus galaxy so how did the wraith feed before the anchients?

3 evulations of the human form we are pretty brillent actualy

They were called Atlant(ians, eans?) several times in tonights episode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

it dosent matter what there called in the episodes cause they are humans who whore born 10,000 years after the defeat of the ancghients so how would they know what to call them

so far there have only been 2 witnesses to the great War one of them didnt say anchients or lantians and the other sounds allot like Lantian. we have seince been informed that this was because of the falce wraith teet that the actor had to wear

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,312 ✭✭✭mr_angry

It seems fairly clear to me that the inhabitants of Atlantis were referred to by the other races in Pegasus as the Atlantians, and that the term "Lantian" may or may not be a colloquialism used by some people to abbreviate it. We still have no idea what the Milky Way-based ancients call themselves.

Where did you get the idea that the Asgard come in ahead of the Ancients ?
Just wondering now because they built the stargates etc. One minute of O'Neill going into Ancient Mode and walla, a weapon against the Replicators where the Asgard failed.

As for the wraith, Unless the writers get a serious kick up the arse SGA is just going to die and bring down SG as a whole with it. Has anyone considered that perhaps the Wraith defeated the Ancients because they maybe went into a passive non-violence mode where they couldn't even defend themselves ? It certainly doesn't make sense that the Wraith defeated them. No sense at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,312 ✭✭✭mr_angry

Apart from the fact that it was explained in the last episode. The Atlantians were merely a small expidition into the Pegasus galaxy. Yes, they were powerful, but they were up against billions of Wraiths egar to feed on them. Technology is one thing, but put into a situation where those using it are hopelessly outnumbered and it becomes ineffictive. In the end, the remaining Ancient explorers decided that Pegasus just wasn't for them, and they might aswell head on home.
