Windows ME won't load

I recently installed some drivers and upon rebooting the computer, ME loads to the "Windows is updating your system configuration screen", produces (eventually, at the rate of about one every 30 mins) a "Could not replace %1 with %2" message and goes no further.

Any solution to this problem? Ideally, I'd like to be able to keep all those lovely mp3s.

Can you not do a repair from the ME disk?

Try booting into "safe mode"..Hold down the F8 key as the pc boots, till the menu comes up in Dos. Once in safe mode remove the drivers you installed then reboot normally, when the device is found by ME again, load the original drivers.
