    This is great!

My neighbour found a price problem on one laptp, difference of 150 vs real price.
They gave her 150 off a DIFFERENT laptop and a free USB memory key.

Its like a free voucher for anything off dell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭snappieT

PS It should be €211 including VAT (for home users)

I don't find the link for the printer but if you go to http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ie&l=en&s=bsd&cs=iebsdt1&sku=22141 you will find the Dell 2300MP Projector for €30 exc. VAT and Delivery total is €49.61

    Projector

That's a mistake, you can find it in http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/compare.aspx/projectors?c=ie&cs=iedhs1&l=en&s=dhs for €1827

They can't charge your credit card any more without your premission

  • Moderators, Music Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 9,389 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lenny

    Yes they can,
If you ordered purposly 3/4 at €30 a go, you blatently know yourself that the pricetag is wrong.

  • Subscribers Posts: 3,703 ✭✭✭TCP/IP

Sorry Lenny you are clearly wrong under retail law you are not allowed charge more to a credit card without first clearing it with the client you are completly wrong.

    Hi

Here is omething I found in http://www.odca.ie/cfmdocs/b_query/info1.cfm and http://www.ecic.ie/consumer/misleading_info/mli_3.htm

    Mistaken Price:

If a wrong price is marked price is marked on goods (sometimes this happens by mistake) the seller may be guilty of giving a false price indication that the buyer does not have the right to demand that the goods be sold to them at the marked price. In legal terms a price ticket does not oblige the seller to sell at the price marked.

So I don't think we will be getting anything from DELL

    Nava

This has happened countless times before - with dell.ie! Your offer is only an 'invitation to treat', it does not become a contract until Dell accept your offer and send you a receipt for your payment, which, I presume has not happened.

No one has ever gotten these cut price goods off Dell that I can remember.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 482 ✭✭heffo9

dont think we will be getting any projectors, just received a mail stating:

    We have received your order.
We will send you a written Order Confirmation to confirm acceptance of your order or will contact you if there is a problem with your order. The Order Confirmation will contain your Order Number and the final purchase amount pending any charges resulting from the verification of the online pricing of your order. Please note that Dell will not be responsible for typographical, pricing or other errors and reserves the right to cancel any orders based on such errors.

ah well it was worth a try, but they still haven't told me i'm not getting one.
so we'll see what happens over the next few days.

BUH?!? Whats an "invatation to treat" etho_?!?!

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 4,668 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hyzepher

The 'Invitation to Treat' by Dell is correct in this instance as they ahve a policy of sending an order confirmation prior to accepting the payment.

In a normal retail store if the price is marked incorrectly and you go to the till and they take your money then the 'Invitation to Treat' - the store putting up the price, turns into a contract when they accept your money.

So if an online store processes your CC immediately i.e. accepts payment, then the contact of sale is valid and they are obliged to honour it.

This will not happen with Dell as they are too smart

    Hyzepher

That's a good way of getting people to look at the website,
advertise something with the wrong price and then try and flog them something different at the correct price!

    Hi

Did anyone that order have any news from Dell?

  • Subscribers Posts: 3,703 ✭✭✭TCP/IP

no news as yet which is actually good news

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭CivilServant

Seen a lot of similar things like this on the net, and a good few times it was Dell. In the end, all the mispriced items were never honoured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

got confirmation of printer but nothing about projector

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 133 ✭✭Jim Kernsey

Has any one heard from dell yet?

I thought they'd acknowledge the order within 72 hours, either confirm it or cancel it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭podge3

I ordered a projector at 10.00 on Monday. Not a sausage apart from the automatic confirmation.

i've ordered a projector, but still no reply from dell, have tried to check the order status on their web site, but it is useless without an order number. no matter what, i think we are all due a reply soon.

    Hi All

got the mail below from Dell a few minutes ago.

    November 24th 2004

    Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your recent request to purchase Dell product(s).

An error occurred on the Dell web site over the weekend of November 19th - 21st, which resulted
in pricing for the Dell 2300 projector being shown incorrectly. The price for the Dell 2300
projector was incorrectly shown as EUR 30 excluding VAT and delivery and EUR 36.30 including VAT
and delivery in the Home & Home Office webstore.

The error was rectified as soon as it was identified. However it has resulted in a number of
customers placing orders on the basis of the incorrect price. The correct price for the Dell
2300 projector is EUR 1499 excluding VAT and delivery and EUR 1813.79 including VAT and
    delivery.

We have not accepted and will not be processing requests made by customers to purchase products
at the incorrect price. Should you wish to purchase this product at the correct price please
visit the Dell website on www.dell.ie to place your order.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this error.

    Kind Regards

    Customer Care

We will keep an eye for any other mistakes.

How many people got the printer for €30?

    Thanks

well i also got two...i aint the only 1...order went through on tuesday evening at around 21:18

could try to prove it to you but whats the point?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

    Dont think that's a mistake.

Dell recently had a printer-scanner-photocopier all in one for Eur 100 (!).
They can afford to sell it at that price because they make their money off the cartridges (which are outrageously expensive).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

it wa a mistake..they issued a letter together with the projector one...

on a seperate note any1 want to buy a dell photo printer for 200e?!

If I can find (really) cheap ink then I'll probably keep on and sell the other.
Some UK online outfits do very cheap ink for my Epson so I'll have a look.

    If not I'll sell both.
