Have been mucking about with the screen reader software that I have and have noticed that it works best with the mobile style on boards.ie

So I just thought that I would post it here if anyone who reads this forum wants to let anyone who uses this software know that boards.ie is now more accessable for people who are blind.

Only problem there is with the mobile style is that there are no thread / moderator tools availible.

    That's great to know Billy.

I wonder if the admins could maybe put that kind of a description with the style so it'd be easier to find, or a link to it directly on the front page similar to Irish rail/Dublin bus' sites. Although I'd imagine that suggestion would receive some hostility from certain users.

    lol,

it took me forever to find that link - I just couldn't see (no pun intended) it.

There is also the small text sitemap link at the bottom

yeah like i said in the feed back boards there are a couple of things that could be removed which would be beneficial for both screen readers and mobile users. for example it says amz has a brilliant future ten times because each .gif file contained in your carma has a comment saying your level of carma that you have.

eh dublin bus? whats that victor?

It would seem that it serves more than just mobile phones.

There are links to the other CIE websites about 15 lires down.

    Luas in MS Powerpoint http://www.luas.ie/document/index.asp?head=4#16

Is this readable for text to voice?

The links to VIP accessable documents on the luas site are buried at the bottom of a page which is not so accessible, which kind of defeats the purpose of them really. They would need to have an alternative homepage with a short URL to get to those links.

The alternative homepage would also have to be accessable.

besides with CTRL and + pressed together in the likes of firefox you can make the text bigger anyway.

the doccuments themselves would be better as a webpage rather than that PFT download, not everyone has the program required to read that format.

The fact that hyperlinks are the same colour as text is actually rather annoying. Might move back to Cloud skin until they change it.

Yeah I mentioned this on the feedback board last week but no joy. just slipped off the first page like the suggestions regarding the accessibility of boards. its the only thing i dont like about evil skin. there isnt even an underline under hyperlinks unless you mouse-over them.

Aye, that's why I've been missing some links.

I'll go reply to your thread and see if there's any feedback.

The comments about the hyperlinks in evil skin are in the "New /Old styles thread

Cloud is off on a long weekend that might have something to do with it as he does all the modifications with the various styles on boards.

    Aye.

I posted on the thread and highlighted (no pun intended) the issue of hyperlinks there also.
