Are you familiar with GURPS? A friend introduced me to GURPS through a few Warhammer 40,000 scenarios, and found that it works extremely well. If you take a few weapons from Special Ops and Ultra Tech, and use between 150 and 200 points for, say an Imperial Guard veteran, then things are great. Space Marines are a good 500 points of attributes and skills, on top of ridiculously tough power armour... He had rules and stats for Space Marines, Tyranids, Tech Priests, Inquisitors, psykers, Greater Daemons...

I recently tried a throw-away game where the players were Catachan special ops performing a series of strikes against Tau forces, and it turned out so well I'm thinking of submitting it to a convention or two in future...

I've also heard several reliable rumours that GW will be creating a WH40K RPG, based on the old Fantasy Roleplay rules.

    I've played a D20 and a Savage worlds Version,

but again its usualy only playable as a troup type or Character from the Table top game (not that theres anything wrong with wanting to be Magnus or anything) I'm trying to write a more broard ranging Game where you can hack n' slash, or Detective or Gothic Horror, or Courtly Romance or what ever, also I have a purpus designed System that I've been cooking fo a number of years and I'm nearly ready to release the latest version. I'm just looking to see if I can have a goood Recon of the other games out there so I don't miss anything

D20 40K? I never even considered it, because of the hilarious concept of a level 1 Space Marine...

Anyway, I find GURPS pretty good for everything you mentioned there. Its problem is realism- It's too close to it sometimes, especially with hit points. D20 is great for daft, over-the-top heroics, where you can take a bullet to the face and keep fighting to full effect. I'd never try running anything "realistic" in it. A GURPS hack'n'slash needs more planning, because people die easily and the challenge of a fight isn't nearly as easy to work out as D20 (A triple blessing on the concept of the CR!)

I'll be happy to provide you with info on what I and my friend did for 40K. Best of luck in your search for other stuff...

What about using Inquisitor as a base for stats? I haven't played the game, but I'd imagine it would lend itself well to that.

Ive nicked the basic concept for Damage From inquisotor, but again Inquisitor is just a combat system, still bloody cool models

I've toyed with the idea myself, but it would need quite a bit of modification. You have to add skills, and the advancement system there is a bit odd, I think.

Perhaps you'd be better off taking an already decent RPG system and bolting on Inquisitor's combat system (which, I must admit, is quite nifty at what it does...)?

its ok I've been brewing versions of 40k RPG for years now, and I think I'm happy with the system I've worked out, Now its just amatter of writeing it out and adding enough Fluff. I'm just interested to see what else is out their and how they deel with the various issues.
