I've seen something like this on SA, where a user who posts crap that isn't bannable, but breaks some sort of rule or whatever, is prevented from posting for a specified amount of time.

Might help cut down on people re-registering, and help them to understand what is acceptable or not.

It will probably require too much effort though ;<

    Er... am I misunderstanding this?

We DO hand out week long bans and longer for stuff that isnt worth a complete ban but rather a "hey dont do that" time-out.

Not only are temporary bans issued but those who have been banned are given the opportunity to either apologise and promise not to do whatever they did again, or explain the reason behind whatever offence they committed, in the prison forum.

I remember an incedent where an iindividual had an image from another website in his signiture. The owner of the website hosting that image decided to replace that image with some porn and the user got banned.

As the user was not responsible, and agreed to rectify the situation, he was unbanned.

The judiciary system on boards if fair in my opinion.
