Anyone know where I can quickly pick up a blank DVD+R DL disc in dublin.

Mail order will take too long - I only got the pc for a week.

Peats have Verbatim discs but it appears the Samsung TSH-552B writer in this machine dont like 'em. :(

Unless another Samsung Owner is going to contradict me??? :o

I dont know of any place. In dublin that have it. You could always go to Komplett and to a DHL delivery. It would be here on tuesday if you order it today or sunday.

How much were those Verbatim discs

try a firmware upgrade on your DVD burner to see if the discs have been supported in a newer firmware.

    Firmware is current :(

As I say I only have the pc for a week before delivering it to the friend that I built it for. I wanted to see if a DVD+R-DL would play on my DVD player.

Only bought the Samsung coz I was seduced by its multi-formattedness :D (does DVD-RAM as well)

Its a noisy little beggar too - its the loudest thing in the sonata case.

Might have a quick look in maplins - but last time I was in it it look3ede like a bomb had hit the place - either a refit or a stock take

Maybe my komplett idea was bad. very bad. I never checked komplett before submiting the thread. 5 discs are e58 plus delivery of 31. which works out at a crazy 17 euro per disc!!!!!!!!!

Me will thinks more before me thinks

    No it doesn't!

Only LG and Panasonic PC DVD writers write DVD-RAM.

Most drives will read the DVD-RAM though.

Buy a big hard disk and use the tools on www.doom9.org to rip the DVD's.

Wait 6 months for media prices to drop and then burn 'em.

    Saves money

Crapola! Good job the guy I've built it for wouldnt know DVD-RAM if it bit him on the arse.

Musta got muddled up with the LG for some strange reason. Saw it on offer on OCuk and just grabbed it.

Still as I said I just wanted to burn a DL disc to see if my home dvd player will handle it.
