    Heya,

Ok so the guys in Celbridge have got v. positive reviews over on the bargain alerts board...I'm gonna buy one or two pen drives from them.

Question is: Anyone bought any of these models? Neon, TinyDisk, Trancend & Sandisk...The prices vary and I'm trying to distinguish between any of them. Obviously the inclusion of a cable/software might push up the price on one or two. But apart from that, even the Neon ones seem to have password protection, partition ability, shock resistance...So is there really any difference?

    Anyone?

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. Does "non-volatile memory stick / pen drive" mean anything in particular? :D

I'm pretty sure non volatile means it contains no moving parts. So it doesn't cantain a mini HDD, just a solid state memory.

Thanks, so is that a standard feature of most pen drives? I was under the impression it was.

Checkout here also, although you need to pay delivery charges.

I got one of the Neon drives about a year ago from them. Its fine but a bit flimsey. I also have a Twinmos from Komplett and its pretty good. Of the two I'd take the Twinmos one.

Cool thanks. I havn't looked recently cos I did alot of checking around about 6 months ago and found these guys were the best (bar eBay), I live beside 'em so I can collect it too.

Good to know about the Neons - that was my worry!

Non volatile - means that the memory does not loes the data when it loses power (ie when you unplug it from the USB) - all USB memory sticks are non volitile. AKA Flash memory.

The RAM in your computer is an example of volitile memory.

Sandisk are the worlds biggest manu of flash memory.
    Samsung are also highly respected.
Both of these manu supply memory to other companies.
TBH - USB memory sticks these days are very reliable - just remember to STOP the drive before unpluging it.

Yeah, I reckon you're better off. GF got one of the Neons a few months ago before the recent price tumble. Very happy with it. Her friend got one more recently and while she's happy with it, GF reckons the newer one is a little more flimsy.
