Just wondering if any of you out there have this problem, I got Thief 3 lately but when I try to run tha game I get the error : Engine Requires video card with pixel shader . My card is a 128MB NVIDIA GeForce MX 440 with AGP8X . Please dont tell me that Thief 3 isn't compatiable with this card. I have the latest drivers loaded aswell.

seems to be...... That card u have isnt DX9 compliant/compatible. Normally when u have a dx8.1 card it just ignores the dx9 bits and everything is all right but I suppose in Thiefs case it needs it. Also thief is a bitch on sys requirements... I can't see it running very well on yur card anyway but I'd say yur outta luck there mate.

aye. it ran like crap on my radeon 9600 (which was a massive improvement over my old gf4mx440...)
you'll need a new graphics card to play it tbh... anything upwards of a radeon 9600pro or the nvidia equivelent should do

Thats Shyte, I doubt I'll be able to return this game so I'll have to upgrade my card, what kind of card are we talking and how much more importantly?
    thanks for your replies lads.

depends on the rest of yur system and yur budget. as tman said above a good budget card is a 9600pro or XT. But even that won't really be the greatest at Thief3. Give us yur sys specs and yur budget.

Specs r Shyte too really, P3 1Ghz, 512Ram, my budget is unlimited, I'm loaded!

Anything better than an MX will do. The MX has gotten notorious rep for not having Pixel Shading, a nessecary feature in all modern games. (At least it had Transform & Lighting)

I ran Thief 3 on my Ti4200(Edit: OCed to the max!) with no problems. My FPS was stable at 30, but it felt like it was at about 50 for some reason... don't know why.

If you have an unlimited budget, go buy a new machine!
    P3 1Ghz? Ugh......

Try sticking a new rig together with Komplett's pc builder
    get a 9800pro, 1024mb ram and a decent cpu (and a chieftec/coolermaster case)

i'd say upgrading your current setup would be a waste of money. better to start from scratch

agrees with tman says. Buy a new machine... a 1ghz system is well past it for games now.

But my poor old 1ghz still has some umph in it, played halo, far cry, Call of Duty, MOH, bit sluggish for battlefield when theres millions of lads on the screen but all the same very playable. I know what you're saying though, what is it now €500 for a new 2.8ghz system for Dell. I think I'll have to consider it , how much for a  graphic card?
