im not liking the look of this..AT ALL

my 200gb drive that has windows on i was merging 2 of them together well it "worked" or appeared to but now when i open PM8

    i get:

disk 1 appears to have partitions created using a different drive geometry (103h 15s) this serious problem can lead to data loss, no partition manipulations should be made to this disk using this product or the operating systems (crap that was my second question  ) you should back up the data on the disc on this disk, delete the partitions create new partitions under the new geometry

so  ..i tried it anyway

and get unexpected drive size or something so i have a 45gb songs partition a 30gb system and apps partition and the rest is unallocated now

dont suppose anyone knows why the HELL its just done this to me is my only option to wipe it all

ffs ive just set up my nice new 300gb s-ata drive and i thought things was going well..argh! i hate this ****ing program it gives me errors everytime i swear!!!

    -edit-

    ****!

nevermind it appears it was formatting them to logical instead of primary! omg its never done that before argh!, changed em all to primary and its fine now..still lost that 60gb tho

    oh bugger it!

I use Acronis Partition Manager 'cos they had it free with PCW magazine once. Hasn't caused any major problems so far*. I have a friend who is an IT Manager and he reckons that these things are no substitute for clean installing ('cos else you are never 100% sure it is right! He also mumbled something about the devil's work), but so far so good. I hate re-installing now (there was a time I thought it was fun, shudder).

    All the best,

    Dave

*Well once it left my PC unbootable (was using GRUB to dual boot and usual fail safe re-installing of GRUB failed, Windows Repair MBR refused)
Partition table all mucked up I guess
Anyway moral of the story: http://gag.sourceforge.net/
This little bootloader happily booted Windows - keep it on a floppy/CD-R for emergencies!
