    who would i report it to in the case of an employer having several people emplyed "not going through the books". who is the person that needs to know this?

    One thing about this: AFAIK revenue will only investigate it (in terms of bringing charges / fines) if the return is greater than the cost of investigation.

    Best you can hope for is that s/he has to declare he has these employees / start paying PRSI and start having them pay PRSI / PAYE etc.

    Go for it man, I remember working those kind of jobs where your boss is an moran who is on a power trip because he is a manager. I fully support your actions, you were following instructions and a customer became abusive. Your boss should have stood up for you rather than against you.
