    Hi there,

I've got an NF7-S Version 2 (NForce2) motherboard. It's got 3 RAM banks of which 2 are filled with 2x256MB DIMMS.

I want to upgrade the RAM and was considering getting a single 512MB DIMM to put in the final bank. I remember something about NForce2 boards performing better with matching DIMM pairs (or something like that).

Anyone know if going from a pair of DIMMS to having all banks full will negatively impact performance?

ram banks 3 and 2 are used for dual ddr setup so if you put another dimm in bank 3 it will stop the dual ddr working!
so if you can sell the 2*256 and buy 2*512.
you get better performance with matched pair ram but on amd boards its very little of an performance increase!

Hmmm I don't know if it's worth selling my existing RAM if it's only a small difference

    My current RAM is 2 X TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 256MB w/Winbond 32M*8/16chip, 184-P (for DDR-PC400MHz)

They're 65 euro each on komplett, so I probably wouldn't get much second hand.

I was going to buy a non-winbond TwinMOS 512MB stick http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=113518&cks=PRL as it's nearly half the price of the winbond one! They're both cas2.5 so I'm not sure what the difference is.....
