it was taken at 5 past three according to the clock on the spire in the extreme background. Very impressive. Expecially the way the website allows you to zoom in so much. Brilliant.

The request cannot be processed at this time. The amount of traffic exceeds the Web site's configured capacity.
    Site getting hammered methinks.

it was taken in sections - not all at once with one big camera! - hundreds of little photos concatenated seamlessly (bar missing feet ;)) - read what the reg said (linked in the first post):
The 2.5 gigapixel image is - of course - a montage of images rather than a single snap and seamlessly fusing the separate images was the main technical challenge.

There's more spooky images (like half a person!) if you zoom into the red path and follow it up.

They should have taken it about 10 miles down the road at Scheveningen strand on the hottest day of the year. A MILLION people to look at :)

Below are some facts and figures about the gigapixel image:

    * Final image dimensions: 78,797 x 31,565 pixels
    * Number of pixels in final image: 2,487,227,305 (2.5 gigapixel)
    * Final image file format: 24-bit colour bitmap
    * Final image file size: 7.5 GBytes
    * Number of source images: 600
    * Horizontal field of view of final image: 93 degrees
    * Time required to capture component images: 1 hour and 12 minutes

It wasn't an instant snap so some mismatches
    hopefully next time they'll try a 360 degree one ~ 30GB

Yea I spotted the no feet fellow aswell, and thought it was rather wierd, must be because they just took a shat load of pictures and stuck em together, he obviouslly moved, if you look at the very bottom (closest part) of the main road on the right you can see a cyclist too who's head has been cut off and some guy wearing a red top has half of his head and shoulders in place of it, kinda funny in a wierd way.

But theres some real cool graffitti on the left hand side of the photo, on the side of that just top of the center on the side of a pillar thing, looks cool as hell :)

If you printed that it would be 6 meters across and 2 an a half meters high. A 360 degrees one would print almost 26 meters across!

Now, not saying Dublin is a suitably majestic subject for such a photo, but if someone would like to spend the thousands of euro to set up, get printed and find a space to exhibit the thing, that is something I'd love to see!!

Im sure this is similar to the type of technology used in spy satellites etc... so the stories of 'big brother' being able to take a picture of you sitting on the bog are true!!!!
