money for first gigs

    just wondering what is an acceptable amount for your first few gigs if they are paying you? just in case we under sell ourselves!!! :D

    Yeah, don't expect to be paid unless you can bring a decent crowd. A lot of venues here charge for the use of said Venue, PA, Sound Engineer and some even charge for the door staff. If you play covers in pubs you'll need to assure them you can bring in a large enough crowd who'll drink enough to insure that they've more than covered what they'd pay you.

    The only way I could see you making money is to sort something cheap out yourself, and charge a fee. You'd still need the numbers.

    Or you could try competing in battle of the bands's. But expect to see one good band and a whole load of ****e bands play at those.
