perhaps he wishes to find the best cake\pie to follow a cheese sandwich?

hmmm a cheese sandwich is a light snack so a heavy cake will be needed to make the full feeling, perhaps a black forest gatoux?

as for a pie, welll cheese is healty so a semi sweet pie would be in order, perhaps an apple and pear pie (add custard and or cream to taste) or a lemom merange pie

Cheese sandwiches are sandwiches, cake on the other hand is not much different.

They both contain soft bread like substances sandwiching fillings

They are generally nice to eat

Both come in an infinity of varieties

    And last but not least

    They are all food stuffs.

    Will say no more.
