Random Crashes

Hey, I've recently completed a build with the following specs:

    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
    Athlon64 3500
    1Gb (2x512) OCZ PC-3500 Gold EB
    Galaxy Geforce 6800 GT
    Be-quiet 480W PSU
    1x 80Gb Maxtor
    1x 120Gb WD
    1x 200Gb WD

I only received the graphics card and RAM in the last few days, so was using my old Geforce 4 Ti 4800SE and 512Mb of old PC-2100 RAM. Since I changed to the new graphics card and RAM, I've been experiencing total system lockups and crashes back to windows without any error messages being given. These crashes and lockups only occur when playing games, HL2, CS, Doom 3 etc.
I've run 3DMark 2001 and 2005, both of which finished properly.
I'm just after trying the torture tests in Prime95 and they ran for between 1 and 7 minutes before getting an error.
Sounds to me like a RAM problem, am I right ? :(

Apart from that, I've noticed that my 3.3V and 5V rails are fine, but my 12V rail generally hovers between 11.61 and 11.79, which I'm lead to beleive isn't good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Run memtest to rule out your ram.
    http://www.memtest86.com/
    Also check your directx.
    Start -> run -> dxdiag
You can test out your graphics capabilities there.
See if it crashes while doin a test.

Is there any other way to test the RAM, I've burned the memtest iso twice now and all I seem to get is a DOS boot disk.. :o

You boot from the disk and the test runs outside windows.
    Its a standalone test.
You can't use the pc while its being run.

I had similar probs with a GFX card and games (radeon 7000) ages ago which were all resolved by turning off write combining I think it was ?... worth a shot.

    /EDIT/
Fixed it, I put the RAM into the 3rd and 4th slots on the mobo and now it's working fine. Must be something wrong with the 2nd slot on the mobo

it might not mean that the slot is damaged. I have seen that so many times before. It probably meant that ram was not seated in the DIMM correctly. I bet if you put it back it would work fine now

I had the same problem a few days ago, changing one stick to a different slot helped to.
Apparently nForce motherboards have some issues with dual sticks of ram, only works in certain combination.
