For anyone that has one of these mice, I'm wondering if it's ambidextrous i.e. not curved so it fits more comforably into your right hand. You see I've a terrible affliction..... I'm left-handed and so use the mouse with the "wrong" hand :D
This means that any of those "ergonomic" mice are immediately rendered utterly useless for me. I'm looking to buy a new mouse and this one seems to be highly thought of. I found this link http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=418 which has images at the bottom of the page that look as if the mouse should be fine but I'd like to be sure.

I've an MX500 and it's pretty usable by left handers I'd imagine.

The one thing you'll miss out on are the thumb buttons, but they're not too much to worry about :)

    lovely mouse btw

Not sure but i think its more suitalbe to right hand users.
Is there no shop near you that might have them? i seen them in pc world not so long ago.

I've never seen them. Most of the shops around here simply stock a very basic range of mice. At least they did the last time I was in. Things may have changed....

To moridin: So you're saying the mouse IS definitely flat rather than curved to the right?

Its designed for right handed users i'm afraid. The mx310 is pretty good and its good for either right or left handed ppl.

An why have you stolen my internet identity?!? :p

I've the same mouse and I reckon it would be awkward enough for a left handed user. Besides the loss of thumb nuttons which you have mentioned, and which can be a big deal if you're gaming, there is a much larger groove on the left hand side for the thumb to sit in to. There groove on the left is merely for aesthetic purposes and not designed to accommodate a left-hander's thumb.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll have to check out the various alternatives given. I'll have to see if I can lay my hands on one of them in a shop where I can at look at it and maybe even test it out.

My mate uses the mx510 left handed. He had a trial period of using a spare one that I had briefly, then bought his own, so it must be usable. You defo lose the thumb buttons (which rock), but other than that it should be ok.

I use my left hand for my mouse in work, so I just checked how it feels with my MX510 here at home, and it's grand. Not the best, not the worst. Your pinky is left hanging a bit, but other than that it's ok.

I think the left handed v right handed is a topic for another thread :) In retrospect I wish I'd thought about it a bit more when I first started using a mouse! Would have made my life so much easier....

I can use the mouse with my right hand for work, just not for gaming (although I can manage Minesweeper and Solitare fine) Knowing my ability to be awkward though, I'd probably try to use the thumb buttons with my little finger and end up with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or something from hunching over the mouse!

don't worry about left and right hand!

I'm left handed and I still bought MX500 and MX700, at first it was hard! but now I got really used to using it with a right hand!

i'm left handed aswell (well i write with my left) but i learned from an early age to use the mouse with the right hand although it took a bit of practice it's worth it.

but i do think they should make left handed versions for lefties think about guitars (another thing i learned right handed) there is left handed models of most guitars why not mice?

Oddly enough, out of the 5 people in my family, 3 of us are left handed but we all play the guitar right-handed. I remember when I started playing it never even occured to me to play any other way. I didn't even realise that Hendrix, Cobain etc played the other way and when I tried it just felt so wrong :) Anyway, back on topic:
