    The school had to stand their ground on this matter cause if they didn't then a chain reaction would ensue and five years down the line from now Irish would be practically non-existent in schools. I have to say that I was never a fan of Irish but its a small price to learn the basics in school in order to keep a part of our culture alive. I mean I'd struggle now to hold a conversation in Irish but at least I have a gist of it. It doesn't do you anyharm to learn it when your young. Its not as if you have better things to be doing!
