Cover the inbox screen with a sheet of paper and only read one line at a time so as to avoid getting overwhelmed?

You probably know this already but ignoring problems tends to make them worse.

I think reading e-mail shouldn't be your main concern. If your depression is stopping you from doing normal daily things then you should get help. Talk to your GP. They will know who to refer you to or how to help, they deal with this sort of thing all the time.

You should read your emails. Depression is aggravated by having free time to contemplate and introvert yourself, therefore allowing your depression to increase.

By reading your emails, cleaning the house, going to a movie you are taking your mind off things and ensuring that you're too busy to let the depression take hold. Throw yourself into things and you'll find that when you're not thinking about it things seem better. This is only a short term solution though, long term you need to work out what is causing your depression and either change it or remove it from your life, if you don't things will only get worse with time.

What problems arise from opening e-mail?

It is true tho, if you ignore problems they do get worse. Just put your mind on what it is you have to get sorted and get it done then u can hopefully be happy again.

If there is something that you don't understand and you want to, then ask the original poster.

You don’t really have depression; you have a case of severe self-indulgence. After all, you know exactly what the problem is - you are avoiding your emails that would apparently remind you of certain obligations - and have no problem seeking ‘advice’. I use the term advisedly because you’re just looking for someone to tell you how you’re a victim and can’t be held responsible for your attempts to shirk your responsibilities.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
Your problem is what is contained in the emails, not the emails themselves. Personally, I suspect that your ‘depression’ is simply an attempt at self-justification for your procrastination and that a firm kick in the posterior would be the best medicine.

    Why be an asshole!?

The guy just wanted help and youi go and shoot your mouth off!?

Anywho, 'I am sad', unfortunately responsibilty is something that comes with life, or if your a comic book fan "With great power comes great responsibility."

Its up to you to deal with your problems before they pile up and come to great to handle. If you need any specific held just ask for it and every1 will give you some helpful advice or if you dont feel comfortable broadcasting your problems just PM some1.

    Hope you get it sorted.
